My 5 Favorite Parts of a Wedding Day
Questions answered by Alisha McElroy, Wedding Coordinator at The Venue at Chilleens

People always ask me what my favorite part of wedding days is.
The truth? It’s hard to pick just one.
I’ve been lucky enough to be part of hundreds of wedding days, and no matter how many I do, I still get excited every single weekend. Every couple is different. Every love story is different. Every wedding has its own personality.
But there are a few things that happen at every wedding that absolutely fill my cup.
1. Being the Couple’s Biggest Hype Girl
From the moment I arrive, I’m hyping up the couple all day long.
Your dress? Stunning.
Your suit? Sharp.
Your flowers? Gorgeous.
Your ceremony setup? Perfect.
Wedding days can be emotional and sometimes stressful, so I make it my mission to remind couples just how amazing everything looks and how incredible they are.
You’ll hear plenty of “WHOOP WHOOP!” from me throughout the day.
Because honestly? You deserve it.
This is one of the biggest days of your life, and I’m celebrating right alongside you.
2. Dancing and Singing Along to Your Favorite Songs
If your DJ is playing the good stuff, chances are you’ll find me dancing somewhere nearby.
I love seeing the music choices couples make because every playlist tells a story. Whether it’s a classic country love song, 90’s throwbacks, or today’s biggest hits, it’s so much fun watching couples and their guests light up when their favorite song comes on.
I may be working, but trust me, I’m enjoying every minute of it too.
3. Making Sure You Actually Eat

This one might surprise people, but feeding the couple is honestly one of my love languages.
Wedding days move fast.
Between photos, greeting guests, dancing, and all the excitement, it’s incredibly common for couples to forget to eat.
Not on my watch.
I’m constantly checking in:
“Have you eaten?”
“Do you need water?”
“Can I grab you a plate?”
You spent months planning an amazing meal. I want to make sure you actually get to enjoy it.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing a bride and groom finally sit down for a few minutes and enjoy dinner together.
4. Bringing Your Vision to Life
This might be my favorite part.
Some couples arrive with detailed instructions for every centerpiece, sign, and decorative item.
Others hand us a collection of wedding-day goodies and say, “We trust you.”
Either way, I absolutely love transforming the venue into their dream wedding.
Watching a space come together is so rewarding.
The candles get lit. The flowers get placed. The signs go up. The little details find their home.
Then comes my favorite moment—stepping back and seeing everything finished exactly the way the couple envisioned it.
Decorating isn’t just setup. It’s taking months of planning and turning it into something real.
5. Connecting With the People Who Love the Couple Most
One of the most unexpected joys of this job is getting to know the people surrounding the couple.
I love talking with parents, grandparents, siblings, and bridal party members throughout the day.
I get to hear stories about childhood adventures, how the couple met, funny family memories, and all the little details that make their story unique.
Even though I may only spend one day with some families, those conversations create real connections.
And at the end of the night, one of my favorite things to say is:
“Good job today. This was amazing.”
Because it truly was.
The couple spent months planning. Parents helped. Friends showed up. Family traveled. Everyone played a part in making the day happen.
It’s such a beautiful thing to witness dreams coming together in real time.

Why I Love What I Do
At the end of every wedding, when the last song has played and the guests have gone home, I’m reminded why I love this job so much.
It’s not just about timelines, decorations, or logistics.
It’s about people.
It’s about celebrating love.
It’s about helping couples feel supported, cared for, and genuinely celebrated on one of the most important days of their lives.
And if I can hype you up, make you laugh, feed you dinner, help bring your vision to life, and celebrate alongside your family while doing it?
That’s a pretty great day in my book.
